Use aromatherapy herbs to improve the quality of everyday tasks.

Essential oils have been used for many centuries to provide physiological benefits like sleep, relaxation and healing. However, it was not until much later, the mid 1960’s in fact, that aromatherapy herbs were found to offer many additional benefits.

It’s been well documented that the sense of smell can alter somebody’s mood. Many studies have shown that certain smells spark changes in the brain that can overcome negative emotions and aromatherapy herbs have been found to relieve a variety of these emotions.

The key is in using quality essential oils, which are extracted from the aromatherapy herbs using a distillation process. The essential oils can then be used in many ways to provide different benefits.

One such way is by heating the oils and allowing the aroma to permeate the air. Oils are placed in burners to evaporate into the air, with some evaporators having small fans to circulate the aroma or built in atomizers to pulse the aroma throughout the room.

Different uses of aromatherapy herbs

An essential oil mixture of geranium and peppermint, heated over either an open flame or in an electric steamer, is thought to relieve the stress of jet lag just as the aromatherapy herbs used to ease physical exhaustion include an essential oil mixture of geranium, peppermint, lavender and chamomile.

Anxiety and tension can be relieved with an essential oil mixture of cedar wood, sandalwood and patchouli.

Nervous tension can be relieved by a mixture of the aromatherapy herbs cardamom, cedar wood, ylang ylang and sweet orange.

For a stress headache, try lavender and clary sage.

Other blends of aromatherapy herbs offering wellness benefits include sweet basil and marjoram to ease the affects of asthma and melissa, thyme, lemon and marjoram can be inhaled to help with a cold or fever.

Mixing Herbs and Spices to Reap Benefits

Another use of aromatherapy herbs is to mix their essential oils with the essential oils of different spices. This significantly increases the range of use of these oils. For example, mixing the essential oils of lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary and marjoram can relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

On the other hand, mixing the essential oils of aromatherapy herbs lemongrass, thyme, lavender and peppermint can be used as an insect repellant and lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus can be used to ease the pain and itching of insect bites.

Using aromatherapy herbs have been proven to provide many benefits of people wanting a more natural way of dealing with everyday occurrences.
